The Pause ~ Promises of Someday

by Vicky

Catherine is ...

What is she?
How to convey all that she is to me?
Where are the words for all the light she brings,
for how she touches all my secret dreams?
She is more ...
more than my cold aloneness could hope for.
more than a friend, a soulmate, an anchor ...
more than my love ... my hidden self ... she's more.
Such simple words,
such vain attempts ...
I wonder if you'd understand
that she's that moon,
that river to sail,
that freedom from our make-believe tales ...

How to define her, still?
Perhaps one day, I will ...

... more than a helper.

Your words, Vicky...sung...I want to say I don't know what to say! This is lovely. You sing us Vincent's heart. His awe. His gratitude. His understanding...as much as one can understand love. Thank you. Nancy

Divina, Divina! You are never EVER allowed to say "I can't write!" or we'll all kick you in the shin! Just words AND music... but you "can't write?!" Riiiiiiiiight! Que belleza!

Oh, thank you girls! I was seriously nervous about this one, tiny as it is. I've never really written specifically from Vincent's point of view, so this was scary! Your comments mean so much, thank you!

This: she's that moon, that river to sail

What an image. I see her, filling him, guiding him, her his fixed mark. You're in his head and you see, Vicky, you know. I love that you marked the difference between life with Catherine and make-believe tales, noting that she frees him to truly have!

I can't adequately express how beautiful you "all" sound. A choir of you - it's beyond words.

Thank you for this.

This is so beautiful, Vicky. And it stands on it's own, even without the music. "that freedom from our make-believe tales" ... [sigh].

And ... the only thing better than hearing you sing, is hearing LOTS of you singing (wheeee!)

Cyndi D July 23, 2010 at 11:31 AM

I just listened AGAIN and you make me weep. How glorious to HEAR Vincent's love!

Carole, i am thrilled that it came across the way I imagined it! Why does is suddenly look prettier after reading this? (I told Amber something similar last night).

Yes, she is all that; and I wanted him to be thinking in terms Devin would understand, you know... All those things they did together... But, but... how to define her to this Devin? To anyone, at this point in their relationship? Sigh...

Awww, Sandy! That is so sweet of you, knowing how I trust my writing... NOT! Hugs.

Like I said last night, it's funny how my favorite parts of my songs come to me when I'm discouraged enough to almost give up... like rushing through that bond we have with Vincent and Catherine themselves, you know. So glad you like it!

Oh my, what a beautiful thing to say, dear Cyndi! AAAH now you're gonna make me cry too... I miss you all so much it's not funny! GRRR...

Lovely, Vicky. Just lovely. There are no words :)

Hugs,

Krista :)

I just HAVE to say it again - WOW! My breath was taken even before I knew there was music and a chorus of Vickys - then when I heard it too! I think you'll never convince me that you are not an angel.

Krista, Laura... what else can I say? Thanks again!

I had to re-do the recording, you know I had to. :-) Unfortunately, it loses quality in the conversion to mp3, but I'm still happier with the new outcome!

Well, this is just wonderful Vicky! I loved listening to your voice in harmony like that! As for your lyrics ... that she's that moon,
that river to sail, that freedom from our make-believe tales ...

This really is what dreams are made of, and your voice lends it an added beauty that can't be matched. WOW!
