~ Cyndi
Vincent and Catherine sat at the small table in his chamber discussing the finer nuances of romance, in Jane Austen’s novels. Vincent began to read an excerpt from Sense and Sensibility
“What is it Vincent?”
“Father is coming.”
A moment later Catherine could hear the distinctive sound of Father’s cane on the stone floor of the tunnel …
“Oh no, not this time he doesn’t.” Catherine put a finger to her lips, bidding Vincent to remain silent. Then she climbed on to his bed and began to bounce! The chamber began to echo with the sound of squeaky springs!
She then jumped off the bed and hid in a dark corner, out of sight of the entrance.
Within seconds Father entered, huffing and puffing, only to find Vincent casually sipping his tea as he read …
“Vincent? I thought I heard …”
“Me reading aloud, Father?” Vincent asked.
Father looked around … “Hmm - Yes.”
“Is there something you need Father?” Vincent asked as he set down his book.
“No, I … I just wanted to say good night.”
“Good night Father. Be well.”
Father glanced around one more time before answering. “You too, Vincent. I will see you in the morning.”
A few minutes later Vincent spoke. “You can come out now.”
Catherine came out of the shadows grinning.
She walked over to Vincent and kissed his cheek. “You know Vincent … One of these days we WILL make those springs squeak, for real.”

Ha ha ha - sister, you naughty girl. I wonder what shade Vincent blushed?
LOL, Good for Vincent and Catherine! Snoopy old Father ...
That Catherine's the mischievous one! This is so sweet . . . NYC Utopia wonders what shade Vincent blushed, and I wonder what he said to Catherine after we have "left" them to their privacy! Hmmm . . . A very fun read, Cyndi!
Love this, Cyndi. Father needs to be put in his place once in a while.
I always picture Vincent blushing a pale bronzed rose, personally....;-)
Father and his nosy nose. But Catherine one-ups him. Now, the sequel, Cyndi. The One of These Days story!!!
So ... ahem Father ... you certainly aren't up to minding your own business! I do love Father, for all of his quirks and flaws. But even so, he deserved to be meddled with! Good for you Cyndi! Someday ...
What a wonderful little joke on Father. Looks like Vincent was also left with more than a little food for thought...
Cyndi, thank you for Catherine bouncing on the bed and Father left wondering and Vincent ... bronzed...I think someone suggested! This was so much fun! Nancy
Now I just want to eavesdrop on our couple when they DO finally make those bed springs squeak for real! LOL!
And, and... what's next?! LOL
Wonderful fun little piece, Cyndi! Father sooo deserved that.
Lovely story, Cyndi!
As soon as I read romance, Jane Austen - I was sighing happily.
Then I read the rest of it and was grinning broadly as well.
I would have loved to have seen Father's face when he walked in the room!
Lion hugs,

This was great, Cyndi ! This was the first story I read regarding "The Squeaks" theme and since I am just beginning to start to read fan fiction, it was a great place to start. Since I'm already familiar with the characters from B&B, I loved how it just gives you enough suspense to say yea..I wonder what happens next....Tweetie Lynn
Thank you Lynn: I hope you will find your head swimming with images of our special couple, as you explore all the wonderful fan-created stories.
